Sunrise Meadow Farm hit a major milestone this week...we made it through our first year in business! YEE-HAW!!!! It has been a super challenging year, but also a very positive one.
I have learned a lot about myself on this journey. I have met some really amazing people, who are as passionate about their craft/art as I am. I have realized just how fun being an entrepreneur is, as well as just how liberating it is!
At this time last year, I was taking some promo photos in La Verne, making a ton of melt-and-pour soap (I had not yet perfected my cold process, handmade soaps yet), and designing my website.
This past week, I finally was able to locate cactus fruit, or tunas, and made my first batch of prickly pear/aloe vera soap. It came out beautiful and I cannot wait until it has cured and is ready for delivery.
I want to thank EVERYONE in my personal network who believed in me, supported me, and most importantly, purchased my first batches of soap! Without you, I could not be where I am today. My total sales for my first year in business landed at $12, 343.00! Not bad for starting out in my kitchen, then to my laboratory in my garage!
As I begin Year 2- and incorporate, I plan to expand to more retail outlets and sharpen my social media skills to gain more customers via Instagram, Facebook, and my website. Stay tuned for more...I am excited for the future!
